about the festival
The East Los Angeles Society of Film and Arts proudly announces the 2nd Annual East L.A. International & Youth Film Festival. The festival's mission is to bridge the gap between the Hollywood entertainment industry and the international film community with films that "provoke thought and inspire solutions," reflective of today's youth, environmental, political and social issues. We actively seek a diverse array of films written, directed, and produced by youth, along with films by more seasoned filmmakers that address critical issues affecting young people throughout the world today. IT provides a venue for talented filmmakers to screen their works in a professional setting, and to receive recognition for their achievements. The week-long festival in April 2010 will celebrate the arts by bringing together filmmakers, members of the entertainment industry, and the community, along with dance troupes, theatre companies, and others committed to artistic expression. We encourage the submission of short, feature length, documentary, documentary short, animation, and experimental films that are creative, original or non-formulaic.
While centered in east Los Angeles, the festival will utilize a variety of venues in the Los Angeles/Hollywood area for film screenings and associated activities. Thanks to the recently-opened light rail service to East LA, participants can communite easily and quickly to all the venues of the festival from the center of Hollywood, history downtown LA and enjoy the charm of Eash LA's restaurants, shops, and galleries. Come explore East LA's unique and diverse cultural history, including being the home of numerous historic synagogues, the oldest Chinese shrine in the U.S., the Latino Walk of Fame, and the largest Hispanic community in the United States.
